The Map Problem
I have long wanted to provide maps of my bicycle odyssey. I tried using Google Maps, but the auto-routing algorithm would always interfere with my actual route. There is also the problem of using a non-open service like Google Maps. I have long been aware of the OpenStreetMap Project (OSM); however, it is only recently that I learned of other open projects leveraging OSM to do things like routing and custom mapping. I am now able with the assistance of 2 such projects, uMap and the Open Source Routing Machine, to provide as some of the utility that I want to give, a visual of my path. My next search will be for providing an elevation profile.
